Can't unlock game

by S Becker · in General Game Discussion · 03/07/2006 (3:14 pm) · 6 replies

I have purchased the game but when I try to register it I get "Unable to find server. Please check your internet connection." (I was online, of course.) The offline registration method of obtaining an ignition file and placing it as per directions doesn't work either. I even downloaded a fresh copy; no change. What now?

Thanks!

Hammer: unfortunately it appears you will get no help at all from Garage Games or 21-6. I did manage to get the game to work on one of the two computers I installed it on but I repeated the same steps on the other Mac and it still won't work. The last thing I did to get it to work was to place identical copies of the ignition file into every directory (folder) within the Contents folder and for some reason it worked. I have come to the conclusion however that it isn't worth $20 worth of frustration; I just won't buy any of their products again. Sorry.

Offline registration is the answer to the problem. It may be that the downloaded ignition file was not placed in the proper directory of the application package.

Erik, if you are still having problems, please email me at justin.mette@21-6.com.

S Becker, I'm sorry that we missed your support request. If you are still having troubles and want to work it out, please email me as well.

Thank you - S Becker!
You did it for me. I placed the ignition file into every directory and it worked for me too.

Best regards

Hi Erik & Justin: just for kicks I installed the game on my new iMac and refined my technique a bit. It still couldn't find a server to register online so here's how it went. The instructions for OSX on the ignition file download page say:
"Control click on the product icon and select the Show Package Contents menu option, then copy and paste the downloaded ignition file into the package folder."
What works for me once you've selected Show Package Contents is to place the ignition file in the Contents/Resources folder.
Hope this will clarify things for others.

There are 3 online working servers as of a few months ago and a Facebook Page as well as orbz messenger group if anyone wants to join and play again. We are getting close to the 20th year since the game came out and crossing fingers we get a re release in 2022 :)
