Raise A Glass

by Michael Perry · in General Discussion · 12/01/2010 (3:59 pm) · 24 replies

Hey everyone. Pick your poison, be it alcohol or root beer. We just passed the 10 year mark since the first employee blog talking about GarageGames.com, 99.9% of the InsantAction/GG crew are officially unemployed today, and I'm feeling a year older...

It's not all bad. Torque is still alive, the community is more active than it's been in months, and the wife is taking me to any store of my choice to pick out whatever I want to amuse myself during unemployment. Huzzah!

So raise your glasses high in the air and celebrate ten years of awesome (the original definition of the word and not the watered down version you hear everywhere):

Got a fun or favorite memory of GG/IA? Hilarious birthday moment? Something positive in general to say about Torque? Post it!

If I had a glass of Jack D I'd raise it, so a cuppa it'll have to be! I think the best time was back at the old office where you guys made a castle around Debs desk.

Just finished a liqueur infused coffee, but the Jager is cold - colder than the rain here - and the holiday spirit has the Yuengling overflowing the shelves so here's to 10 and hopefully some more.

What a ride it has been.

Some of my favourite moments were at various IGC's when I first met face-to-face with a number of folks that I still keep in touch with. Seeing Torque ShowTool Pro for sale on the GG store for the first time -- and receiving my first royalty cheque -- is another favourite memory.

While this is the official end of employment at IA, I feel confident it is not the end of Torque. Here's to hoping that most of the band can still come together once that future is secure.

*Cheers!*

@Novack: Not damn many.

@All:

*raises my glass*

Thanks for everything.

Especially giving me more inspiration to go out and make something worthy of the crew that made that fort...

*Raises a glass of... damn, it's empty!*

I've enjoyed using Torque-tech for a few years now, and still continue using it.

Let's hope the community keeps on going like it has done now!

Salute!

I'll have to go get to some boozing for you and the other GG peeps. It was always good hanging out with you guys at the GDCs and IGCs over the years (honestly, nothing beats the IGCs being held in a brewery).

Great times and memories.

Cheers! To the best and most indie friendly company around and the most helpful community anywhere! I know I will be using Torque for a long time. I hope to see another post celebrating 20 years in the future.

@ Steve, Thankyou. I needed that laugh after a bad day at work. Deb's laugh is so infectious.
@ Mich and all the GG/TP crew, I'll raise my nice warm cup of joe to you. You all are the greatest.

Cheers! I raise my can of Coke (there's still much Torque coding ahead tonight) to the past 10 years and the many that will follow!

The first thing that popped into my mind was Deborah's fort as well, but there are so many more. I liked Mich's stupid (but honest) jokes on the Torque podcast. I love the Friday thread. I like the way Rennie Moffat inspires people to work things out on their own. And the entire community of course.

I could use some good news from Eric for Christmas. That would be my new favorite Torque memory. :)
