afxFPS for T3D Full Template - rough first look...

by Gibby · 12/01/2014 (1:55 pm) · 3 comments

I needed to graft the selection system as well as the Selectron, Zodiac, and Effectron systems from AFX onto my T3D project. I started by deconstructing the demo to it's most minimum working components and grafted that onto the Full Template. The resulting 'BareBones' template has a few snafus to fix, assets to create, etc, but as you can see from the video it now works as the basis for an FPS or RTS using AFX tech. I'm going to get it cleaned up, add some original art plus modded weapons and post as a resource when time allows. Any input/suggestions most welcome...

Here's the pudding:

My thought was to use Ecstasy Motion to generate a handful of basic casting animations allowing a basic spell/psyker system to be included. Any help with animations would be most welcome as well... For now you can use any spells or components as long as you don't need the anims...

Note that I used Vicente Buendia's reticle selection resource to enable reticle selection. I also have moveMap target cycling/selection setup so targets can be selected via keystroke mouse. I may still keep the spellbank functionality as it's great for hud/inventory things but will rely mostly on an effectron-oriented design. Will keep you posted...

Hey Gibby, thanks for thinking of Ecstasy Motion for your animation tool! It's been very quiet for a long time, but I recently did a lot of work toward dragging it back up to 2014 standards, and will be doing a lot more work in January, so keep an eye out for a new version pretty soon!

@Chris: Great to hear, as I'll be diving into it quite a bit more next year
