After a little over a year and a half of research into generating terrain for video games I have come to the conclusion that height based terrains like T3D ,and virtually every other 3d game engine have, are simply out dated. As it turns out one game engine has a very well developed non-height based terrain system. The C4 game engine has a very good system based off marching cubes. However it is less than stellar with its multi-player capabilities.

First a little history behind our Mech franchise..... In 2004, Max Gaming released its first game using Torque (Dark Horizons: Lore), followed by a singleplayer addon (Lore: Invasion in late 2004) It was received very well and over its 3 year course had hundreds of thousands of registered users and matches. The game was a IGF finalist in 2005, and spawned its own con (LoreCon) in the same year.

So I've gone from one level of challenges to another. But I'm finally getting things to the point of actually having fun creating the remaining features.

I am going to deviate from my mostly technical topics and cover an important skill: People Skills. I am not an expert, but I have been able to associate with people that are. So I will pass on what I can.
